Started with a quick dip in the very pleasant jacuzzi because I needed to gather some intel; each swim lane had someone in it, and I needed to know what do to. "What's the protocol for lane-sharing?" I asked the guy already in the jacuzzi. "Just get in a lane and they'll work it out. " and so I did, and so it did.
This is the first pool I've been able to swim long-wise. My lane neighbor -- who was tracking time and laps on his watch -- believed it to be 25 yards. Seems reliable.
While my lap counter is awesome, my Mio stopwatch failed on me after two sessions in the LA hotel pool. Shame, because I was enjoying timing myself on each lap. So I gathered a rough time from the clock on the wall, and counted laps while trying to do the mental math on 880 yards. Got to 16 laps, exhausted and ready to quit when I dimly realized that 16 laps of 25 yards is only 800, and that is need 80 more yards to get to a half mile-- ostensibly two more laps. But by then I was nervous about the time since I really should be back at the warehouse, and just plum tired. Stopped at 16 laps / 800.
Not really sure why I was so tired today. Haven't swam or exercised since Sunday; thought I would be ready for a hard workout but I totally was not. Maybe because I'm mentally drained from having two very demanding days at work while being depressed about having to be at work at all -- instead of living in the miracle-dream-state that surrounded my trip with Theresa to the City of Angels. Yup, that could well be it. I'm still fairly despondent about having to be back: yeah, it was that fun...
